Server Connection Indicator

One of the useful features of SSMS is that it allows a user to connect to multiple servers at the same time.

Although the current server is displayed status bar it can be all to easy to execute a query on the wrong server, especially if there are lots of different connections open.

Server Alert prevents ambiguity by clearly indicating which server a query is connected to through a coloured bar at the side. Different server can be configured with different colours.

Example Usage

An example use would be to give all production servers a red indicator to act as a warning, while all testing or development servers can be given a different colour, for example green to indicate a test or development server.
